Together with Hired, we ran a coding challenge between October and November 2022 for aspiring Software Engineers, Software Developers, Quantitative Engineers, Quantitative Developers, Research Engineers, Architects, and Machine Learning Engineers.

The challenge consisted of a technical test with a 45 minute time limit, giving participants the chance to demonstrate their coding skills and win a MacBook Pro.

After much deliberation, we’re pleased to announce that the winner is Liang Song, based in Beijing, China.

Hear about Liang’s experience participating in the challenge:

“I found out about the G-Research Coding Challenge from Twitter and LinkedIn, and through a friend who kindly shared the information with me. Prior to the challenge, I didn’t know much about G-Research beyond it being a London-based quantitative finance research firm.

“The coding challenge was different to other challenges I have participated in before, with the questions gradually increasing in difficulty.”

“Generally, each question required a simple implementation for each step, but there was a need for deeper thinking for better performance as well, which wasn’t straightforward given the challenging the time limits.

“I was pleasantly surprised to hear that I had won and I am grateful for this opportunity. I learnt a lot from the experience and I think opportunities like this greatly benefit individuals like myself to continue our growth and development.”
