Academic community

Through scholarships, partners and funding, we’re supporting the next generation of STEM talent.

G-Research scholarships

We are fully funding 42 PhD students at eight of the UK’s leading universities, alongside 12 PhD students at four ELLIS-affiliated sites across Europe.

This investment is designed to foster innovation among the world’s brightest minds, providing the financial support needed for postgraduates to push the boundaries within their chosen field of study.

Scholarships are administered by relevant departments within each selected university.

Further funding

In addition to funding 12 PhD scholarships across four ELLIS-affiliated sites, we are supporting a further 24 ELLIS students by fully funding the programme’s mandatory six-month international research exchange at another ELLIS institution or partner company. This removes financial barriers, allowing students to focus fully on their research.

"Investing in the next generation of STEM talent is a natural fit for G-Research. The work these students do will shape our field, and we’re proud to help them take on big challenges."

Charles, Academic Relations Manager

Academic partnerships

We’re proud to support some of the UK’s and Europe’s leading academic institutions through our flagship scholarships programme.

King’s College London Mathematics School

We support King’s Maths School, a specialist mathematics sixth form in South London, helping students with exceptional mathematical potential explore the real-world applications of mathematics and quantitative careers through talks, events and enrichment activities.

Monthly grants

Each month, we award a number of grants – worth up to £2,000 each – to early-career researchers (PhD students and PostDocs) working in STEM fields.

These grants are designed to cover aspects of research life that are often overlooked by traditional funding, such as travel costs, conference attendance and childcare. Since launching in 2021, we’ve supported over 100 early-career researchers in advancing their work.
