We are proud to employ some of the best people in their field and to nurture their talent in a dynamic, flexible and highly stimulating culture where world-beating ideas are cultivated and rewarded.

This role is based in our new Soho Place office – opened in 2023 - in the heart of Central London and home to our Research Lab.

The role

We have set out on a multi-year mission to modernise our colo platform to remove friction and increase pace for our teams to deliver on our ambitious goals. We’re simplifying our estate and looking for opportunities to leverage open source or cloud offerings where it makes sense.

The Low Latency Engineering Group at G-Research is responsible for providing and evolving a low-latency platform. As a Production Software Engineer in Core Colo Engineering, you will be part of a small team responsible for the application platform running a globally distributed, low latency system.

The application platform is comprised of high-performance Linux servers, Kubernetes and an ecosystem of services to manage application deployments written mostly in C#.

Engineering underpins our continued growth and success, and we are committed to recruiting and developing the world’s best Engineers.

Key responsibilities of the role include:

  • Designing, implementing and improving our application platform
  • Collaborating with our platform and application teams to understand the current landscape and integrate best practices
  • Keeping a business value-oriented mind-set, understanding how your work adds value to the business and making that central to your decision making

Who are we looking for?

  • Strong background in software engineering with extensive experience of a high-level programming language, such as C#, Java, Go or C++
  • Experience building on modern cloud-native technologies, particularly AWS and Kubernetes
  • Proven ability to build and deploy software in resource-constrained environments, leveraging standard tooling effectively
  • Ability to solve real-world problems with a high degree of pragmatism and a preference for simple solutions to complex problems where possible
  • Confidence to work in a fast-moving environment, experiment with new ideas and technologies, and embrace change when it brings business value
  • Good understanding of fundamental algorithms and data structures
  • An interest in finance and the challenges in this space is an advantage
  • Ability to collaborate with and influence technical and non-technical colleagues from across the business

Why should you apply?

  • Highly competitive compensation plus annual discretionary bonus
  • Lunch provided (via Just Eat for Business) and dedicated barista bar
  • 35 days’ annual leave
  • 9% company pension contributions
  • Informal dress code and excellent work/life balance
  • Comprehensive healthcare and life assurance
  • Cycle-to-work scheme
  • Monthly company events
