The role
G-Research is going through an exciting period of growth and transforming the way we run and build platforms. As part of our transformation, we are looking for a highly skilled engineer to join our expanding Research and Core Compute Platform Management team.
As a Compute Operations Engineer, you will assist in the management of a reliable and scalable research platform. You will design automation, from pipelines to Kubernetes controllers and custom CLIs, to ensure the compute farm capacity is optimal. You will ensure that the compute farm scales rapidly as we onboard new hardware and new architectures.
The compute farm is key to our business, and you will work closely with research engineering and researchers in this role.
Key responsibilities of the role include:
Managing lifecycle and monitoring of Core Compute and Research HPC platforms
Developing automation and operators to build and extend our Kubernetes compute platform
Working with platform and development teams to help define standards, best practices and onboard new technologies onto the platform
On-call responsibilities for the most critical parts of our Kubernetes infrastructure
Who are we looking for?
We’re looking for a skilled engineer with technical experience of managing high performance, scalable and resilient infrastructure solutions.
The ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience:
Kubernetes, inclusive of networking
Basic networking knowledge
CI/CD principles
Linux internals
Storage principals and protocols
Development skills in at least one of Python or Go
Experience managing and debugging large productions systems
Reliability engineering mindset
