  • Dallas

Do you want to tackle the biggest questions in finance with near infinite compute power at your fingertips?

G-Research is a leading quantitative research and technology firm, with offices in London and Dallas.

We are proud to employ some of the best people in their field and to nurture their talent in a dynamic, flexible and highly stimulating culture where world-beating ideas are cultivated and rewarded.

This is a hybrid role based in our new Dallas infrastructure hub where we work on the latest technologies in a cutting-edge environment.

The role

We’re looking for a Senior Engineer to join our Internal Developer Platform team in Dallas.

The Internal Developer Platform team sits within the HPC Developer Experience group, which is responsible for infrastructure orchestration across platform. The group is foundational to how research and engineering happens at G-Research.

We design, build, operate and support the products that enable the rest of the organisation, shaping how engineers interact with services and infrastructure to build, ship and operate solutions.

This is an impactful role. As a Senior Engineer you will design, build and operate scalable solutions that enhance the developer experience across our entire organisation. You will play a key role in defining and implementing the team’s technical direction, working in close collaboration with engineering teams to build out our best-in-class platforms and tooling.

You’ll own features end-to-end, raise the bar for code quality and shorten idea-to-production cycles across our Dallas and London sites.

Key responsibilities of the role include:

  • Creating intuitive web experiences by building and evolving Backstage plugins and other React applications

  • Designing and operating scalable TypeScript/Node.js back-end services

  • Embedding unit, integration and end-to-end tests, and managing automated CI/CD pipelines using GitHub, Jenkins and Argo CD

  • Taking full operational responsibility for the components you create, including on-call participation and post-incident reviews

  • Mentoring junior engineers, sharing knowledge through code reviews and tech talks, and fostering continuous learning within the team

  • Identifying workflow friction, prototyping solutions quickly and iterating with stakeholders across the organisation

Who are we looking for?

The ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience:

  • Proven production experience delivering end-to-end systems with React, TypeScript and Node.js

  • Practical knowledge of Backstage, including plugin development, software catalogue and TechDocs

  • Ability to design highly available distributed architectures with clear scalability, resilience and cost considerations

  • Familiarity with Kubernetes, Terraform and observability stacks

  • Experience integrating and securing services on a major public cloud provider

  • Self-directed and confident leading architecture discussions or small technical initiatives

  • Clear, concise written communication and the habit of producing design docs and RFCs that influence cross-team decisions

  • Enthusiasm for developer experience with a focus on measurable productivity uplift

  • History of mentoring junior engineers and cultivating an inclusive, high-trust culture

Why should you apply?

  • Market-leading compensation plus annual discretionary bonus

  • Lunch provided in the office (via GrubHub)

  • Informal dress code and excellent work/life balance

  • Excellent paid time off allowance of 25 days

  • Sick days, military leave, and family and medical leave

  • Generous 401(k) plan

  • 16-weeks’ fully paid parental leave

  • Medical and Prescription, Dental, and Vision insurance

  • Life and Accidental Death & Dismemberment (AD&D) insurance

  • Employee Assistance and Wellness programs

  • Generous relocation allowance and support

  • Great selection of office snacks, and hot and cold drinks

  • Free on-site gym and car parking
