G-Research is a leading quantitative research and technology firm, with offices in London and Dallas.

We are proud to employ some of the best people in their field and to nurture their talent in a dynamic, flexible and highly stimulating culture where world-beating ideas are cultivated and rewarded.

This is a hybrid role based in our new Dallas infrastructure hub where we work on the latest technologies in a cutting-edge environment.

The role

We’re seeking a Systems Integration Software Engineer to join our Platform Software Services (PSS) team, which builds critical custom software solutions that enable teams across G-Research to operate securely, efficiently and at scale.

This is a vital role. Systems integration activities are an integral part of day-to-day responsibilities, requiring a strong background in software development alongside an understanding of systems and operations.

As the organisation grows, we are increasingly incorporating AI into our solutions to enhance their functionality and impact.

Key responsibilities of the role include:

  • Developing applications, services, tools and automation to improve the operability and integration of core infrastructure and platform systems

  • Working in a collaborative, agile environment with an emphasis on continuous improvement and delivering high-quality code

  • Participating in on-call rotations and contributing proactively to operational support

Who are we looking for?

We’re seeking a practical, highly capable software engineer with a strong interest in systems engineering. You should be comfortable working both independently and cooperatively within a dynamic team.

The ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience:

  • A proven ability to engineer high-quality software in an oo or functional language - C# is the primary language used by the team but we are often called to use other languages as well, including GoLang, Python and occasionally JavaScript/TypeScript

  • A track record of working effectively in self-organising teams that proactively addresses challenges

  • Understanding of good architecture, clean code principles and computer science fundamentals

  • Experience working with relational databases (RDBMS) and/or NoSQL systems

  • Familiarity with CI/CD, observability and automation tools

  • Practical experience with containerisation and orchestration tools, such as Docker and Kubernetes

  • A strong interest in DevOps practices, platform reliability and systems integration

  • Experience with Git and modern version control practices

  • Familiarity with agile methodologies and continuous improvement processes

Why should you apply?

  • Market-leading compensation plus annual discretionary bonus

  • Lunch provided in the office (via GrubHub)

  • Informal dress code and excellent work/life balance

  • Excellent paid time off allowance of 25 days

  • Sick days, military leave, and family and medical leave

  • Generous 401(k) plan

  • 16-weeks’ fully paid parental leave

  • Medical and Prescription, Dental, and Vision insurance

  • Life and Accidental Death & Dismemberment (AD&D) insurance

  • Employee Assistance and Wellness programs

  • Generous relocation allowance and support

  • Great selection of office snacks, and hot and cold drinks

  • Free on-site gym and car parking

"G-Research makes a lot of effort to have a very open culture and gives a lot of freedom to its individual researchers to pursue directions that they think are valuable, with each researcher very much driving their own research. I didn’t feel like I was losing a lot of freedom (compared to academia)."
