Engineering internships
Explore our 12- or 24-week software engineering and FPGA engineering internships in central London.Engineering is fundamental to how G-Research works. Our engineers build the platforms, infrastructure and tools that enable researchers to test ideas at scale and tackle some of the most complex problems in quantitative finance.
From the outset, our interns gain first-hand experience of working within a complex engineering environment. With regular support and feedback from experienced colleagues, they have opportunities to develop their skills and deepen their understanding of engineering at scale.

Our engineering internships
Software engineering
Contribute to the systems and platforms that support our quantitative research. You'll gain experience of complex, high-performance technology while helping develop, improve and modernise the systems our teams rely on.
FPGA engineering
Apply your digital design skills to ultra-low-latency hardware and infrastructure that support our work. You'll work alongside experienced specialists on technical challenges where performance and precision matter.

Our 24-week internships typically run from spring through to summer, while our 12-week internships take place over the summer.

If you’re curious, analytical and enjoy solving complex technical problems, we’d like to hear from you.
You should be graduating in 2028, studying Computer Science or a related discipline with a 2:1 or above, and have experience in an object-oriented programming language such as C#, Java or C++.
Projects vary between teams, but engineering interns have worked on areas including:
- High-performance and distributed systems
- Research platforms and tooling
- Compute infrastructure
- OpenStack and cloud technologies
- Automation and developer tooling
- Low-latency systems and FPGA development
Our recruitment process is designed to understand how you approach technical problems as well as your existing knowledge.
Stage 1: Online application
Choose the engineering internship that best matches your skills and interests and submit your application.
Stage 2: Online assessment
Complete a HackerRank assessment designed to test your technical knowledge, programming skills and approach to problem-solving.
Stage 3: Technical screening call
Meet with two of our engineers for an online technical discussion, where you’ll explore your knowledge and approach to engineering problems in more depth.
Stage 4: Onsite assessment centre
Join us at our London office for a series of technical and team-based assessments, including system design questions and collaborative exercises.
Stage 5: Senior manager interview
Meet with a senior engineering manager to discuss your experience, motivations and approach, while learning more about engineering at G-Research.
Stage 6: Outcome
We’ll let you know the outcome of your application and, if successful, share everything you need ahead of joining the programme.
