This is a Fixed Term Contract (FTC) role based in our new Soho Place office – opened in 2023 - in the heart of Central London and home to our Research Lab.
The role
We’re looking for a commercially-minded Legal Counsel to join the G-Research Legal team. This is a high-impact role, providing strategic legal support across the business and helping to drive efficient, pragmatic outcomes in a fast-paced, technology-led environment.
Working closely with stakeholders across research, engineering, commercial, operations and leadership, you’ll deliver clear, business-focused legal advice and play a key role in supporting the company’s growth and innovation.
You'll be part of a collaborative legal function that partners closely with the business to enable decision-making and manage risk effectively.
Who are we looking for?
We are looking for someone with a strong grounding in commercial law, with the right mindset to be able to apply those principles in practice to everyday issues.
You will be proactive, solutions-oriented mindset, with a focus on enabling the firm, while protecting legal interests.
The ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience:
Extensive post qualification experience as a solicitor (in the UK or equivalent jurisdiction), including significant technology and commercial contracts experience
Strong experience in software procurement, including software licensing, SaaS, AI tools, and transactions involving resellers
Familiarity with hardware procurement and a range of commercial agreements, including those for professional services, training, and marketing
Solid understanding of intellectual property protection, particularly in a technology-driven environment
Working knowledge of data privacy law, including its application to commercial contracts and vendor arrangements
Comfortable advising on contracts based on third-party paper, balancing legal risk with business pragmatism
Demonstrated expertise in drafting and negotiating complex commercial agreements
Experience working with or implementing legal technology and AI tools, such as contract lifecycle management and AI-assisted document review, would be desirable
Excellent academics, to include a minimum 2.1 degree or equivalent
