This is a role based in our new Soho Place office – opened in 2023 - in the heart of Central London and home to our Research Lab.
The role
The Algo Safety Risk team works closely with all areas of the business at G-Research. As the company continues to grow and our technology platforms evolve at pace, there is an increasing need to assess and strengthen the reliability of controls.
In this role, you will partner with stakeholders to understand and document safety control frameworks, develop robust testing plans and provide assurance on control effectiveness. Your work will be instrumental in informing governance committees on the strength and reliability of these controls.
As a Risk Specialist, you will also collaborate with other Risk Advisors to support broader control initiatives and deliver assurance-based reviews across key areas of focus.
Key responsibilities of the role include:
Partnering with key stakeholders to identify and document critical control processes
Leading the control Risk and Control Self-Assessment (RCSA) related to our clients’ trading environments
Supporting and delivering thematic reviews focused on risks associated with client trading activity
Developing commercially appropriate control testing plans in line with the level of risk
Producing clear, audience-specific reporting on control testing outcomes
Providing commercially informed advice on risk mitigation and control effectiveness
Who are we looking for?
The ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience:
Familiarity with how clients operate across asset classes and trading venues
Understanding of foundational trading platform infrastructure, as it relates to risk and controls
Experience in managing or coordinating multiple workstreams, with strong prioritisation skills
A solid understanding of operational risk and the ability to clearly articulate potential points of failure
Commercial acumen to prioritise control testing activity based on business impact
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to define problems, interpret data and prepare materials tailored to a range of stakeholders
Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across different business areas
The following skills and experiences are beneficial, but not essential:
Understanding of key regulatory frameworks
Ability to use tools like Tableau (or similar) for data analysis and reporting
Involvement in root cause analysis related to client-side trading incidents
Experience with control documentation using Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC) platforms
