Elizabeth, Quantitative Research Intern
Fact file
Position: Summer Research Programme Intern (10-weeks)
Team: Quantitative Research
Before G-Research: PhD student in Mathematics at the University of Oxford
“During my internship, I worked on an independent research project, with regular meetings to discuss progress with my mentor. We had a lot of freedom to explore different aspects of the project and really make it our own, which I really enjoyed.
“The independence was balanced by plenty of support. Our mentors have been amazing – so supportive and engaged with the projects we’re working on. They’ve also made sure we’ve spent time with other people across the company who are interested in our work. We had the opportunity to meet many people from different teams who could offer their own perspective, which made the experience feel incredibly collaborative and connected.
“That sense of collaboration extends across G-Research. The community is collaborative, friendly and engaged, with people genuinely interested in all parts of the research going on across the company. It’s been a great experience of working within the financial sector and a great experience at a great company.
“My advice to anyone thinking of applying is to be curious and give it a go. Don’t worry if you don’t have extensive finance experience – the team at G-Research were amazing at helping us settle in and get set up technically.”
