We tackle the most complex problems in quantitative finance, by bringing scientific clarity to financial complexity.

From our London HQ, we unite world-class researchers and engineers in an environment that values deep exploration and methodical execution – because the best ideas take time to evolve. Together we're building a world-class platform to amplify our teams' most powerful ideas.

As part of our engineering team, you’ll shape the platforms and tools that drive high-impact research - designing systems that scale, accelerate discovery and support innovation across the firm.

Take the next step in your career.

The role

We're seeking a Linux Engineer to build, maintain and evolve the Linux platforms (RHEL and Ubuntu) that underpin our compute environment. You'll work across the full Linux stack, from OS builds and provisioning systems through to observability, security and custom tooling.

Mathematics and science are at our core; AI pushes them further to unlock bigger thinking and bigger impact. We expect every colleague to actively bring AI into their daily workflow to deliver impact we didn't think was possible. In this role, that means helping design and use agentic frameworks to move the platform towards autonomous, closed-loop operations.

Security is a core part of the role, from hardening and patching through to vulnerability response, and the role offers the chance to develop deep technical expertise in Linux internals, automation and performance optimisation while contributing directly to infrastructure that supports large-scale quantitative research.

Key responsibilities of the role include:

  • Building, releasing and maintaining core Linux OS images across the estate
  • Developing provisioning and lifecycle management systems, including PXE boot, kickstart and cloud-init
  • Designing and maintaining APIs, databases and package tooling used across the firm
  • Applying Infrastructure as Code practices, primarily using Ansible, to automate deployments
  • Leading vulnerability response, including CVE triage and kernel and package remediation
  • Helping design agentic frameworks for safe, autonomous detection and remediation
  • Improving observability and telemetry to track OS health, provisioning and compliance

Who are we looking for?

The ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience:

  • Strong hands-on experience with Linux systems, particularly RHEL and Ubuntu
  • Deep knowledge of Linux internals, such as boot process, kernel modules, filesystems and package management
  • Experience with kernel optimisation and performance tuning, such as scheduler, memory and I/O, is desirable
  • Knowledge of eBPF for observability, performance analysis and security enforcement is a strong plus
  • Strong programming skills, for example in Python
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Ansible) and broader automation practices
  • A strong understanding of Linux security, including hardening, patch management and compliance frameworks such as CIS benchmarks
  • Experience with, or a genuine interest in, agentic or AI-driven operations is beneficial
  • You don't need to have all of the above, but a problem-solving mindset and strong collaboration skills are essential

Why join us?

  • Highly competitive compensation plus annual discretionary bonus
  • Lunch provided (via Just Eat for Business) and dedicated barista bar
  • 30 days' annual leave
  • 9% company pension contributions
  • Informal dress code and excellent work/life balance
  • Comprehensive healthcare and life assurance
  • Cycle-to-work scheme
  • Monthly company events
